We thought we’d stop by Victoria Beckham shop to pick up a VB t-shirt – and found a queue outside the store.
There was some discussion amongst security as to whether I was allowed inside. Mummy told them, we’ve been here quite a few times before. They offered to take care of me.I have my own “Bodyguard!” After some conferencing, they decided I was most welcomed.
We bought the t-shirt … and then was told we could go upstairs to meet Victoria! Now, I have never met Victoria – so I don’t know what she looks like and I couldn’t see her face while she was hiding under this big bagWen we went upstairs, there was this lovely lady – she was Victoria who signed the t-shirt Mummy had bought. She asked Mummy who she should sign it for – Of course, for me!
May’s comment: Lucky run-in. After been away from London, been meaning to go get a t-shirt and found a long queue. Asked what was happening – they were lining up to meet Victoria Beckham. Since we were already there – why not? Just realised then that Victoria Beckham had her first London show this year – at the gallery next door! That explained it.
We were not at the front of the queue and was told she might no longer be there when it was our turn to enter the store. It was a long wait for a t-shirt but what else were we doing on a Sunday afternoon. Security had discreetly come by to look at Darcy and walked away. But when we got to the front of the queue, we were stopped and they said they would be happy to look after her. Wouldn’t have minded – just wanted to get a t-shirt. After all she would have been very safe with all the security,Just then another security guard came up and said he had already checked earlier and allowed us in. Bonus! The t-shirts were flying off the shelf! After I paid for it, we were told to go upstairs to have her sign the t-shirt. Woohoo! Not only was she still in the store but we get her to sign the t-shirt?!?!?! But that means I wouldn’t be able to wear it. Sort of defeated the purpose. LOL!
As we approached the slight, petite figure behind the table, Victoria was very relaxed and said hello as she saw us approaching. Hello doggy! How cute! And asked who she should sign the t-shirt for – Miss Darcy came to my mind! LOL! She asked if Darcy would wear the t-shirt.
And she asked if we would like a photo taken. Oh yeah! Of course! Horrible pic of me but good of Darcy. Was not expecting to meet a celebrity. Darcy not her usually well-groomed self – we had just come back from the beach and I was in tatters! So embarrassed.
If she’s petite, I am not too much taller than her!?!?!? Maybe she was in heels.
And she did not for a moment hesitated when she saw Darcy going towards her and when I lifted Darcy for the photo, she came towards her – unlike some celebs who worried about dog hair on them – she got right into the pic. And when I said – can she have one with you, she just took Darcy from me in her arms – no qualms. The person taking the photo was surprised that I didn’t want to be in it – and Victoria reassured her, I wanted one with just Darcy.
Just to say, their store has always been very dog-friendly. The times I’ve been in there – every time with my pooches, they have been fussed over and loved. Think it says a lot about them being relaxed and not uptight. Besides they have cocker spaniels at home!
