The First of Eight

Happy Hanukkah to all our Jewish friends!

To commemorate Hanukkah, a Jewish holiday, we light a candle each night for eight successive nights.

But this year, I think we’ll manage to light only one of the eight candles as we’ll be leaving tomorrow evening for our Christmas adventure.

May’s comment: May this season of beauty and light fill your heart and home with happiness.

No, we don’t celebrate every holiday. I had spent many years living with a Jewish family in New York and then my ex- of many years was Jewish. So for a lot of my adult life, I had celebrated Hanukkah. And I wish to remember the Jewish holidays fondly with the “extended” families who have been and still are a part of my life.

Happy Hanukkah to all who light the candles on the menorah.
