Christmas cards

Wishing you all love, peace and joy this Christmas Holiday …

And a meaningful, mindful and memorable 2020.

May’s comment: From the time we were children, we have always sent Christmas cards to our friends and family. It seems a bit outdated in today’s electronic age and an environmentally conscious generation. Call me old-fashioned but we still love sending cards. One of our recipients this year is a millennial, told me ours was her first Christmas card ever! LOL!

Every year I wonder if I should still send cards in the old fashioned way – the effort in finding the “right” photo for this year, the time it takes to put together the list with the correct addresses, the expense of printing and postage – but when I focus on the purpose, it’s worth it. Just before the year ends, it is the best time to send wishes to friends we think about during the year but never seem to have the time to speak or visit. Sometimes they are far away, sometimes our lives are too busy to meet up. So it seems so timely to send season’s greetings before the year is up to say we’re thinking of you.

And glad to know I am not the only one who still does.

As the days draw closer to Christmas, the postman delivers in return greetings from friends I don’t usually hear from. Today, all the post that came through the letter box were all Christmas cards. Loved it. Some have news from the months past – for a quick catch up. And I always enjoy those with photos especially of children – seeing them grow up through the years.

I love Christmas. And sending cards is a lovely tradition of sharing the season of love with those we treasure especially when we cannot be together. It will always be a part of our Christmas.

And it is that much more special to open an envelope to find out who it is from and then to see the photos, to read the messages not the same as receiving an electronic card.

Thank you to all who sent us cards.

All that said, it is impossible to send cards to everyone, so in this instance, we are sending you, our readers, our wishes for a beautiful holiday season – via our blog! πŸ™‚

I still send cards via snailmail. Been doing so for decades from the many places where I have lived in the U.S. I think a paper card is very nice to hold and read and look at. Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2020.
