I’m a Londoner

London isn’t everybody’s cup of tea
Often you hear visitors complain
Noisy, smoky city but it seems to me
There’s a magic in the fog and rainIMG_6977(At St. Paul’s Cathedral)

Chorus: Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner
That I love London so
Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner
That I think of her wherever I goIMG_4646(At Woven on Fulham Road)

I get a funny feeling inside of me
Just walking up and down
IMG_6905(George at Trafalgar Square)

Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner
That I love London so.

People take to saying as the years go by
London isn’t London anymore
People may be changing
But this town and I
We are even closer than beforeIMG_7007(At the Millennium Bridge)

Chorus: Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner
That I love London so
Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner
That I think of her wherever I goIMG_6872I get a funky feeling deep inside of me
Just walking up and downIMG_6830Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner
That I love London so
Don’t you know that I love London Town
Oh, I love London so.

There are so many people, rather so many feet we walk past, so many cars.  There are also so many interesting buildings and places that we are not allowed inside.  Like this very, very old shop – Lock & Co. – which Mummy loves to go to.  But because of us, she did not go in. IMG_6962But that’s ok. Hoomans are also entitled to their rights/preferences.  But there are many other shops where we are welcomed.

There are equally many restaurants and cafes where we are allowed into – mainly in the residential areas.  IMG_6033(At GOAT Chelsea)IMG_2992(At Gordon Ramsay’s Maze Grill in Chelsea)IMG_2464(At Ziani in Chelsea)
But in the less residential parts of the city where they are not used to having dogs around, they are happy for us to be seated outside when available.  And we pooches don’t mind – when it is not raining! IMG_6982 We don’t really get cold and they are usually considerate and would bring Mummy a blanket to keep her warm. Because the food is still good whether in or out.IMG_6976In this amazing colourful city, we always find something new, there’s always something to look at.IMG_6515(At Duke of York Square)

And more than anything else, we appreciate the many parks where we can run freely – off the lead

And play with other friends!IMG_7016Yes, I am a Londoner.  And I love it!IMG_5077

May’s comment:  English weather is always a topic of conversation. But when the sun comes out, or just when it is not raining, London is fabulous! There’s always something going on in this capital city – and it’s amazing how many dogs live in London! Just thankful that there are many places we can go to with our fur babies.  It’s not obvious but more and more, dogs are being integrated into our daily lives.

Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner“- lyrics by Hubert Gregg

I love this old song. Best sung with a Cockney accent. Although I now live many thousands of miles away, I will always have a soft spot for London, as that’s where I was born at St Thomas’ Hospital, so it also makes me a Cockney! They say if you’re tired of London you’re tired of life.
