New kid on the block

Mum, we better hurry. It’s already 8am. If we going to Central Park we have only an hour to run off leash.

We walked up Fifth Avenue to the entrance that took us to the East Meadows …

Immediately on entering the park, we saw lots of doggies!!!!

I’m not sure if they would play with me.

Feeling a little shy and overwhelmed.

Some of the other doodles came up to sniff me up. Do I smell not like a New Yorker?

Mum? What should I do?

Some were very friendly.

There sure are a lot of doodles in New York City. I’ve already seen so many.

Feeling a little reserved. Being very English about the whole thing.

We left the group and walked around East Meadows …

There were other groups of doggies – but I just decided to look at them from afar.

There were interesting rocky outcrops – I climbed up to see what’s on the other side.

But 9am came along too soon and we were back on the leash.

As we walked back to the apartment, it was Mum’s turn … she had to stop at her favourite place YURA.

For her cornbread and cappuccino – that was what she had almost every morning.

And all along the way we keep seeing these instructional signage.

And that’s what I do – I learnt that the last time I was in New York back when I was only a pup!

More adventures tomorrow …

May’s comment: Just like the last time Darcy was in New York City, she seems to understand that this is not her territory. During the short time we’ve been here, she has not barked at any other dogs – which she usually does back in London. Very interesting to watch her behaviour.

She’s really very confident when we are walking in London but today she felt unsure of what she should do with all the pups. She really felt like the new kid on the block.

Glad there were a lot of friendly doodles around even though Darcy was too shy to make friends so early in the trip.

  2. Kathy

It’s hard being the new kid on the block. Also different dialect too. Bless her heart! So glad the other doodles were friendly to her.

We have a UK passport that is recognised in the US. And we had all the paperwork to show vet’s consent, she’s an ESA and also she has a rabies tag from her last trip.
