Chucs – An intimate, all-day restaurant serving breakfasts to to dinner. This is an off-shoot of the original Mayfair 50s-style menswear boutique and restaurant and café concept on Dover Street. Chucs menswear collection is also housed on the ground floor of the venue. But when I asked them if it is an Italian restaurant, they rather be classified as Modern Cuisine. There are a few Chucs scattered throughout West London.

Chucs at The Serpentine – Fourth in the Chucs series of Italian restaurants around London, this well-placed branch sits in the swooping, tent-like structure expertly designed by Zaha Hadid at the Serpentine Sackler Gallery. Daphne’s Restaurant – An Italian mainstay in South Kensington/Chelsea, known for people-watching and classic cuisine. Nice to go on occasions, reliable for good food and feeling special. Since Covid outdoor installations, dogs are only allowed outside. 112 Draycott Ave, London SW3 3AE
Farm Fetch – Shop the finest ingredients from the artisans within small Italian and Spanish villages at Farm–Fetch. Or stop for something to eat or have a cappuccino and dolce. 259 King’s Rd, London SW3 5EL
Fazenda – This is as close as you can possibly get to eating lunch in Italy but you’re in Spitalfields. Very hearty and genuine food and atmosphere, for a very reasonable price. Coffee is also strongly recommended, both to drink in, take away, or buy a bag of to take home. 9 Harrow Pl, London E1 7DB
Forty Dean Street – for nearly two decades this restaurant has been serving exquisite Italian food in Soho. Super dog-friendly. When we walked in with six dogs, every table there had dogs! 40 DeaW1D 4PX
Fiume – D&D London’s newest Italian Restaurant with Francesco Mazzei, sits on the Riverbank of the Thames in Circus West Village within Battersea Power. There’s outdoor seating but dogs are also allowed inside. Circus West Village, Battersea Power Station, London SW8 5BN
Franco’s – Upscale Italian restaurant for all-day haute dining amid elegant old-world interiors. Situated at the St James’s end of Jermyn Street, Franco’s has been serving the community from early morning to late at night for over 60 years. Rumoured to be London’s first Italian restaurant. Frantoio – Family-run restaurant with white tablecloths serving classic Italian cuisine. An institution along the King’s Road towards World’s End. The owner who is more English than Italina would at times would break into song! 397 King’s Rd, London SW10 0LR
Fucina – Situated in the heart of Marylebone. An Italian restaurant that sources the best organic produce to create their menu of wood-fired pizza, roasted meats, elegantly plated pasta. The stylish and cavern-like space with coloured glass panes and a warped brick ceiling is supposed to conjure up the look of a brick oven’s interior. 22 Paddington St, Marylebone, London W1U 5QR

When I called to make a reservation and informed them I have a dog, their response sounded like – why are you even asking? Like. Locanda Locatelli is a Michelin-starred restaurant in London, noted as much for its conviviality as the quality of its food. The patrons have a cockapoo called Olive. They understand that those of us who like to dine with our dogs. 8 Seymour Street, Marylebone, London W1H 7JZ
Lucio – Italian staples in a simple, bustling dining room with fixed-price menus at lunchtime. Family owned and the whole family is there to greet you. Always see someone famous in there, especially their cockapoo, Coco. 257-259 Fulham Road, London SW3 6HY
Made in Italy – Rustic restaurant serving thin crust pizza by the metre on wooden sharing boards, with roof terrace. We sat up on the terrace – what fun – before the rain came. There are at least three “Made in Italy” in London, but we’ve only been to the one on King’s Road. 249 King’s Rd, London SW

Marchesi 1824 – Steeped in tradition, Pasticceria Marchesi is one of Milan’s oldest and finest pastry shops. It is considered a benchmark for the quality of its fresh patisserie, its signature chocolates and its classic Milanese Panettone. Ottoemezzo Cafe/Pizzeria – All-day cosy (crammed) Italian cafe with vintage movie posters and colourful fabrics. Good basic Italian. 2-4 Thackeray St, Kensington, London W8 5ET. The restaurant next door, Locando Ottomezzo, is a rarity for an Italian restaurant – NO DOGS!

Polpo – A bàcaro, Venetian word to describe a humble restaurant serving small plates/simple food and good, young local wines.
