Ikoyi – A contemporary restaurant that gives a modern twist on authentic West African flavours. B Bagel Bars – an authentic bagel bakery offering in-house stone-baked bagels, healthy salads. 236D Fulham Rd, London SW10 9NB

Chiltern Firehouse – Andre Balazs luxury hotel and restaurant in Marylebone. Dogs are no longer allowed inside the restaurant but dogs are allowed in the bar area and there’s outside seating in the courtyard – well-heated and mostly covered. Love the people watching! Their very elaborate dog bowl has a story behind it.

It was a gift from Carrie Fisher who frequented the restaurant with her dog, Gary. Since her passing they have made it their signature dog bowl. 1 Chiltern St, London W1U 7PA

Joe Allen – A classic American restaurant based in the heart of London’s busy Covent Garden, favoured by theatre goer. Joe Allen has been serving the best in authentic American food since 1977. Only “small dogs” allowed. Covent Garden, 13 Exeter St, London WC2E 7DT

Abuelo in Covent Garden is an Australian-meets-South-American coffee house and kitchen serving light, fresh, produce-led meals.  26 Southampton St, London WC2E 7RS

Comptoir Libanais offers Lebanese, North African, and Middle Eastern dishes with a terrace – a colourful, flavour-filled stop for two- with four-legged visitors, sititng on the terrace. Mexican (2)

Mezcalito Chelsea Low-key restaurant with a terrace specializing in tacos, burritos & other Mexican cuisine classics. 119 Sydney St, London SW3 6NR

Mestizo Restaurant & Margarita Bar is the concept of a group of Mexicans to bring to London a restaurant-bar offering a fine and authentic Mexican cuisine. 392 King’s Rd, London SW3 5UZ

Persian (1)

Diba means a fine silk thread and good home-cooking is the thread the connects. Their menu consists of family recipes passed down the generations. The Chelsea branch is their third restaurant in London. The other two are in Wimbledon and Richmond386 King’s Rd, London SW3 5UZ.

R&H is a modern Persian Cafe and Art Gallery at 15 Richmond Hill, London TW10 6RE. No reservations and the venue is tight. One of the best places we had eaten at but they are now permanently closed.

Peruvian (1)

Chicama – Seafood dishes get a South American twist with cocktails to match at this attractive Peruvian spot. Located at 383 King’s Rd, London SW10 0LP Permanently Closed

Turkish (1)

Simit Sorayi – there are several restaurants scattered around London. The one that we’ve been to on King’s Road is closed.

Steakhouses / Hamburger (6)

Gaucho Restaurants – There are numerous Gaucho Grills dotted around London but only the one in Hampstead is dog-friendly – on special days. Gaucho Hampstead is well-known amongst many London dog-owners for their Doggy Sundays (the first Sunday of every month) and special doggy events (which we have hosted a couple of times). Under new management, all the Gauchos are now dog-friendly.  

Maze Grill Park Walk – Gordon Ramsay’s polished restaurant for steak, sushi and modern grill fare with Asian influences. One of their two Maze Grills that are dog friendly – this and the one at Royal Hospital Road. 11 Park Walk, London SW10 0AJ Permanently closed.

Hache Burger – Fab burgers! Smart eatery with a menu of gourmet burgers, including Scotch beef, chicken and vegetarian versions.It has changed hands recently. They didn’t allow dog in before but their rules have changed and “well-behaved” dogs are welcome. 329-331 Fulham Road, London SW10 9QL

Knife Steakhouse is a small neighbourhood steakhouse serving seriously good steak – ethically sourced beef from master butcher ‘Lake District Farmers’, rustic interiors and linen napkins all adds to the atmosphere. So good we went twice in one week! 160 Clapham Park Rd, London SW4 7DE

Le Petit Beef Bar. The Beefbar concept is to offer the highest quality meat in a modern yet luxurious surrounding – was first realised by ‘artistic director’ Riccardo Giraudi in 2005 with his flagship restaurant in Monte Carlo. It has opened its first UK outpost in Chelsea. Le Petit Beef Bar is reminiscent of an upscale Parisian brasserie. Beef is the star of the show – and not just in the classic steak form, but beef served in a whirlwind of different cuisines – from Chinese to Italian to Mexican. For starters, the wagyu bao buns are a must. 27 Cale St, London SW3 3QP

M Restaurants – The original restaurant was in Threadneedle Street where they had doggy Saturdays. It’s near the city and a bit far for us to go to. Since then they had opened up two new restaurants (Grill or Raw), a clubby bar & an attached wine store in Victoria. The menu is high-end steakhouse, mixing beef with fashionable cured-and-pickled small plates.
Dogs are allowed on regular days but you need to alert the staff when booking and to be seated accordingly.

The Market Place Restaurant – an all-day diner with rustic decor and large terrace, for breakfasts, chargrilled burgers and salads. Outdoor seating only for humans and dogs. Chelsea Farmers Market, 125 Sydney St, London SW3 6NR
