A Beautiful Italian Pranzo at Sale e Pepe Mare at The Langham
We were absolutely thrilled to be invited to experience the newly opened Sale e Pepe Mare at The Langham, bringing the timeless charm of the much-loved Pavilion Road institution into the heart of the West End.
Since 1974, the original Sale e Pepe in Chelsea has been known for classic Italian dining and old-school elegance, so we were excited to see how that same spirit had been brought into its beautiful new home at The Langham, London.
I visited with my lovely friend Liz, who was visiting London all the way from Washington, D.C., making the meal feel even more special. There’s something wonderful about catching up over exceptional food and wine, and Sale e Pepe provided the perfect setting for exactly that.

From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt effortlessly sophisticated yet warm and welcoming. The restaurant beautifully balances contemporary luxury with the classic Italian hospitality that Sale e Pepe is famous for.

To start, we shared the Vitello Tonnato (cold sliced veal, tuna, caper sauce) and Otoro Toast (bluefin tuna on brioche), both absolutely delicious. The Vitello Tonnato was delicate and beautifully balanced, while the Otoro Toast offered a lighter but equally flavourful beginning to the meal.

For our mains, Liz chose the Pollo alla Milanese, while I opted for Tagliarini al Granchio (King Crab). Both dishes were wonderfully executed. The chicken Milanese was crisp, golden, and perfectly cooked, with that comforting simplicity that Italian cuisine does so well.

Naturally, the meal was accompanied by a lovely Italian wine.
And because no Italian meal ever truly feels complete without dessert, I finished with an affogato, simple, classic, and absolutely perfect. The combination of rich espresso poured over creamy ice cream is one of those desserts that never disappoints.

What makes Sale e Pepe so special is its ability to make dining feel timeless. In a city constantly chasing the next trend, there’s something incredibly refreshing about a restaurant that focuses on authentic flavours, and polished service.
We left feeling wonderfully full, relaxed, and already talking about returning.
A huge thank you again to Sale e Pepe at The Langham for such a lovely pranzo, and for bringing a little slice of Italian elegance to The Langham, London.
