It was Blessing of Pets service at St John the Baptist Church – in keeping with the feast of St. Francis, famous for his love for all creation, and especially God’s creatures.IMG_3688 We went along to be blessedIMG_3685 Me and George sitting with Mummy in the church pews waiting for our turnIMG_3631The Blessing of animals began with a prayer – “…bless and protect these creatures which you have put into our hands and help us to cherish their lives knowing that all life is precious in your sight. Amen.”

The clergy going to bless the pets …
IMG_3628IMG_3624Then it was my turn – I watched curiously as he sprinkled me with holy waterIMG_3619 And George’s turnIMG_3621 And an extra blessing for George – the Hungarian refugeeIMG_3623 Yay! We’ve been blessed! And together we sang the last hymn of the service …IMG_3637“All things bright and beautiful,

all creatures brat and small,

all things wise and wonderful,

the Lord God made them all.”

Ah, we see another cockapoo!IMG_3639After the service we went to meet all the other petsIMG_3658Even a “mouse” sorry, it was a hamster!!!! LOL!IMG_3664We went over to say hello to the other cockapooIMG_3659IMG_3681This is Winnie – the Poo! She’s only just a year oldIMG_3675And then there was Spencer! 1. May you are truly blessed with D’Arcy and George but as you say a few more blessings wouldn’t go a miss.
    Xx

    1. Sarah, this church is in Holland Park. It’s a dog-friendly church – for the evening services. But next week we are going to the All Saints Church in Fulham at 3pm for another Pet Blessing service.

  2. Very good to meet you at the Pet Blessing Service on Sunday evening at St. John’s, Holland Road. Father Peter’s dog is a sable Tibetan terrier not a Wheaten terrier – easy mistake to make!
