We had a special get together on Friday. For the first time Mum had all her godchildren and us together – and of course we celebrated with afternoon tea.

You know Godson Nr. 1, Edgar. We see him ever so often. He’s the oldest of them and he’s currently finishing up his Master’s thesis in London. While Freya (Goddaughter) from Washington DC is in the UK for the summer holidays. And now, Sasha (Godson Nr.2) from Thailand has just arrived in the UK for boarding school.
The stars collided and brought joy – much joy to Mum.
The most cherished moments happen when friends and family get together.
May’s comment: Well, it wasn’t smooth sailing. Had this idea a week ago and thought I had a few weeks before Freya returns to Washington DC. When suddenly she had to fly back on Saturday for a course. It had to be yesterday – the only chance to get them altogether which we have never managed to.
Over the years, they have met each other …

I thought it would be amazing to celebrate the occasion over the quintessentially English tradition of Afternoon Tea at Adam Handling’s in The Cadogan. This would be Edgar’s first Afternoon Tea! The Moores from DC and who are dual citizens would enjoy it and over the years, Sasha have been introduced to one of my favourite things to do together.
Came Thursday afternoon and it was reported that Timothy wasn’t feeling well and he needed to go to ER on their way back from The Cotswolds on Friday, which meant their Mum might not be able to make it along with Timothy. Just before we were to leave for The Cadogan, Sasha said he wasn’t feeling well. But we talked him into it. After we arrived at The Cadogan, I got a text message that Edgar was running late due to an extended Zoom call. Was it ever going to happen?
But in the end – all eight Afternoon Tea guests arrived and we all sat down for a delightful and delicious spread of sweets and savouries.

The Adam Handling Afternoon Tea was delicious, the company was lovely, the conversation flowed – amongst the kids and the adults. They shared their experiences about schools and their hopes for the future. And I was bursting with pride. They have all grown up to be lovely human beings, polite, interested and happy.

These are the humans that I have some ‘responsibilities’ for and the doggies who are solely my responsibility.
