George will look like a Christmas tree when he wears his bell and flashing light! Why? I hear you ask.
It’s because we’re going to visit Zebedee in the country and he lives in a house with a very big garden with woodlands. So Mummy is terrified that we could lose him when he does a runner!
He could run into the bushes. There’s a lot of undergrowth and large wooded areas.
While we were in Malta Mummy bought George this kitty bell! Rather demeaning that a dog has to wear a kitty bell!
And whilst at the vet she saw this B’seen light that you can hook onto our collars. She’s taking all precautions!
So as George runs in the garden, he will also be wearing his fluorescent yellow fleece and he will be jingle bells all the way!
And as dusk falls, when he goes out for a walk, we will switch on the light and he will definitely be like a lightning bug!!! LOL!
Those country dogs will think they’ve encountered an alien.
May’s comment: What else can I do to be sure I can see and hear him when he goes exploring the garden?

That is so funny did make me giggle! You could always attach him to Darcy! So looking forward to these piccy of Georgie flashing xx
Maybe keep him on a long line or flexi lead in the dark May. It’s impossible to see an all black dog in the dark isn’t it! I think your high viz fleece is great. I have a couple of fluorescent coats for walking Charlie in the dark even on lead, so he is visible to cars Just a thought to make sure that he can’t get it hooked up in undergrowth. Enjoy your trip to the country!
You could buy him a reflective collar, as you might not see the light if he is turned the wrong way. If you shine a torch at him in the dark you will be able to spot him from quite far
I love the idea of tethering him to Darcy. Too funny. Of course you would then run the risk of losing both of them….you are the consummate dog mother. 🙂
We have a pink LED collar that was from a VET in england. It is battery powered but is basically like a big glowstick round Snoop’s neck (they also do green ones that i’ve seen). Its great because we are now in France and it is so dark there’s almost no light pollution at all at night so having a black Cockapoo became somewhat of a problem. Now i can see her pink neck bobbing about in the garden and if she goes too far I have some hope of finding her. I’ve seen rechargeable versions of this collar but it’s great. Looks a bit like this one http://www.aidi-pet.cn/product/60114459284-200376476/USB_recharge_led_light_christmas_dog_tube_collar.html
Thanks for that – I have been looking at LED collars. As someone suggested if he’s running away from us – we can’t see the flashing light. And we’re going to the French countryside – so greater precaution needed. He’s been fab though. He would run and investigate and then come running when called – after a few times. 🙂
