Cotswolds Weekend

IMG_3676

We just had the most lovely weekend in the Cotswolds, a region renowned for its picturesque beauty and quintessential English charm. Each season in the Cotswolds brings its own unique splendor. Spring and summer are particularly enchanting, marked by vibrant blooms and lush greenery.

The Cotswolds is home to numerous charming villages and market towns, each with its own distinct character. The region is famous for its honey-colored limestone buildings, which give the villages a warm, golden hue. We were delighted to catch sight of everything from quaint thatched cottages to grand manor houses and historic churches, many of which date back to the medieval period.

The Cotswolds boasts some of the most beautiful gardens in England, featuring a stunning array of flowers, plants, and carefully designed landscapes. We were there at the right time to visit the Flower Show at Cotswolds Farm Park and to see lavender in full bloom at Cotswold Lavender in Snowshill.

It was just heavenly driving from one village to another, and we indulged in the delights of Daylesford Farm Shop. All this was made even more special by our stay at the lovely Weaver’s Cottage in Kingham, which is situated almost centrally in the region.

Weaver’s Cottage is home to Ian and Imraan, along with their cockapoos, Harry and Grace. Interior designer Imraan Ismail has created a striking home, which has been featured in The English Home magazine for its unique design and impeccable style. The themes of light, rich color, and real comfort are evident throughout the cottage.

The lounge at Weaver’s Cottage is a stylish, peaceful oasis, featuring luxurious designer furniture. A large television screen is cleverly built into the ornate mirror above the fireplace, appearing only when turned on. A writing desk by the window includes a laptop that guests are welcome to use during their stay.

The cottage has three lovely bedrooms,

two bathrooms and Cowshed amenities.

One of the bedrooms is at the end of the garden. The ‘Garden Room’ is a gorgeous ensuite annex and that’s where we stayed. The cottage can sleep six comfortably.

The pretty courtyard garden between the cottage and the garden room is perfect for eating or relaxing outside on lovely seating with lots of gorgeous cushions.

We loved discovering the many extra touches – from the selection of quality Wellingtons in all sizes for you to use, to the wonderful products in the bathrooms, the inlaid TV, special kitchen and coffee equipment, to the welcome hamper sourced by the local, famous Daylesford Organic Farm. Not to mention the jar of Gummi bears! That did it for me! LOL!

It goes without saying that the cottage is pet friendly (with permission beforehand). It feels like home away from home – and what luxury it was to be able to stay in such a lovely cottage in the middle of The Cotswolds.

Kingham, known as The Jewel of The Cotswolds, is the closest village to Daylesford Organic Farm, which has become very dog-friendly. We could shop and dine with our pooches.

The cottage is self-catering but there are lots of local pubs close by. The village has two great dog-friendly pubs less than 5 minutes’ walk from the cottage – The Wild Rabbit and The Plough.

The Wild Rabbit , award winning gastro pub celebrates seasonal British ingredients with a sophisticated menu which evolves with the changing produce from Daylesford organic market garden.

  1. A friend and I visited the Cotswolds a few years ago and stayed at a cottage in Bourton-on-the-Water. We spent two weeks walking the footpaths from village to village. So much to see everywhere we went!

  2. George and Lulu look so relaxed and happy on your trip to the Cotswolds! Didn’t you go at the most gorgeous time of the year? Beautiful flowers and a wonderful place to stay!
