We are one step closer to the end of the Government’s Road Map out of England’s Lockdown. There’s light at the end of the tunnel.
On Monday, 17th May, we were allowed to dine indoors, two households can now socialise indoors and many hotels will re-open their doors. As soon as Boris Johnson confirmed that, we booked our train tickets and we were off to our next staycation! Not before Mum sat down at Juice Baby for her regular morning drink. Think we were their first sit down customer.

And then we were off. Because Jessie has been staying with us, we couldn’t leave her with someone she didn’t know. Instead George went to stay with Mac and Maisie – I think it’s more like with Ben and Gemma because he loves being with them.
So it was me and Jessie off to Victoria Station – on our way to the seaside town of Eastbourne.

We arrived at Port Hotel too early for check-in – told you Mum was excited!

As we sat in the lounge area, waiting for our room to be ready, …

When BBC One’s camera man, Ian walked into the lobby and asked to interview us as the first guests at the hotel on that momentous day! LOL!

This was part of a special series on BBC One South East which came on telly later that evening.
This is my new mate, Ian.

Watch this space as we enjoy our latest staycation and discover Eastbourne.
May’s comment: Starting from lastMonday, England moved into Step 3 of the Government’s roadmap. There’s now easing limits on seeing friends and family wherever possible. We still have to be diligent and not let the latest Indian variant get out of control.
Step 3 include opening indoor entertainment venues such as cinemas (can’t wait to have popcorn and watch a big screen) and hotels, hostels and B&Bs. We had booked to stay at The Port Hotel in Eastbourne on the 17th May so we were waiting for the Government to allow Step 3 to go ahead.
This will be our first proper staycation since last November. I think we will be doing more of that and will leave foreign travel till next year! But face, hands, space still applies.
Stay safe!
