As soon as I saw you, I knew that an adventure was going to happen. Winnie the Pooh.
That was exactly what I thought when I met Little Tyke on the day I arrived home …

Our adventures started when we were both on all fours but before long he began walking on two legs … and curious!

And now that you’re three – what shall we get up to?

And then at four he started rugby tackling me as he got bigger.

And Georgie also became part of the scene.

Six and cheeky – doing tongue out Tuesdays with me.

Seven and with attitude.

We missed a year when Little Tyke and Mini Tyke didn’t come to London the summer of 2018 but resumed our adventures in 2019.

And then the world stopped. The pandemic lockdown stopped all travels – and we haven’t seen each other for 18 months till three weeks ago when he arrived in London …

And now he is 11 – and rather grown up. Though he has come to stay in England for awhile, he will be going school away from us and having new adventures on his own …

Good luck, Little Tyke! To many happy adventures and learning new things.

But when he comes back ever so often our adventures will continue.
May’s comment: “Life is like a camera. Just focus on what is important. Capture the good times. Develop from the negatives. And if things don’t turn out, take another shot.”
Since the three of us met in May 2011, I must have taken thousands of photos of Sasha and Darcy … capturing the years as Sasha grew from infancy to toddler, going through the early childhood years to now pre-teen.

Where has time gone?

Yesterday we delivered him to boarding school and a whole new world unravels.

In the eighteen months that I have not seen him, he had grown so much as a person. He amazes me and baffles me at the same time. I am trying to keep up with the brain development while trying not to get annoyed with his pre-teen frequency of “No, I don’t want to” and “Not now.” Gone are the days when going off with Aunty May was a big treat.

Now his friends are more fun. He is discovering, observing and learning new “worlds” through the internet. Letting go and let him spread his wings to fly is what I must remind myself.

But when we do get him out of the house without his phone or computer, there’s that boy I had known all these years …

He still enjoys the cuddles, the physical touch. He still holds my hand – and each time I wonder for how many more times will I feel that hand reaching out to hold mine. And as much as I am looking forward to much needed boarding school disciplining, I will miss having him around, and can’t wait for the next long weekend. He is propelling so fast into the teenage years. When he finishes boarding at his current school, Little Tyke will soon be Teenage Tyke – maybe that’s an oxymoron. 🙂
I woke up this morning and with my dogs snuggled up to me on either side, I was reminded that these two will never leave me …

Till death us do part.

So much to look forward to. 🙂
Gorgeous photos and memories. Good luck Sasha with school. Hope you’re happy. I went to boarding school and was very home sick for a while. Keep an ear out for that, he may need lots of support at least in the first year xx
We were told to expect tears in a few days … and it is part of the course. So far he is happy and had adjusted.
