Just like Pip, I am a Palace Pup because I had stayed at The Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa in Malta.
And the reason it’s called The Corinthia Palace is because it’s located across the street from the residence of Malta’s President.
And the Palace gardens are open to the public so it’s rather convenient for us to take our morning walks.
There are always other dogs – sometimes easily excitable ones – like these two.
Back at the hotel, I am now a “Palace Pup”. We have been welcomed from the moment we made our reservation.
A bed awaited my arrival with a toy and treats.
I was allowed to have lunch and tea at the Orange Restaurant till 18.00.
The day when Mummy had her – guess what? Red velvet muffin and a cup of tea,
the waiter brought me a bowl of water and even a snack. The bowl of rice and peas looked as pretty as Mummy’s red velvet but she refused it for me!!!
What?!?!?!? Why Mummy?
Oh well, I guess you’re right. Rice doesn’t agree with my tummy and as we were getting on a plane the next day – it wasn’t a good idea. But we were very grateful.
In the evenings, the Concierge helped us to find dog-friendly restaurants where we could dine.
The first evening we dined at Melita Gardens which was across the street from the hotel.
Another evening we went to a more funky place – Electro Lobster Project (funny name!) at St. Julians’ Bay
The food was delicious – I was told. I wouldn’t know as Mummy would not share her King Prawn linguini with me. 🙁
But if we did not dined out, there was always room service and they have a dog’s menu too.
The concierge also helped us make our appointment at the vet so I am properly checked and applied with all the necessary applications before travelling.
We didn’t have time to go to doggy spa – but that was an option as well.
Though the weather was lovely, it was not quite pool-side lounging yet. We checked out the pool area …
and found the specially designated area for us Palace Pups!
In the evenings we would walk around in the gardens where I do my toilet business.
Or sometimes I just check out to see if there are any cats to chase! I did find one and Mummy was not happy with me for scaring the little kitty.
And as we got ready for bed, I rather like sleeping on Mummy’s fluffy pillows.
When it was time to leave, everyone came to say “goodbye!”
And said they hope we would visit again. George? Interested in visiting Malta?
May’s comment: A lovely experience for Darcy and myself (once we got there!)
Such a lovely effort made by the staff. There were of course areas that were off-limits but it was understood that not all their clients like our furry friends around them.
It seems quite a lot of local residents do come here on weekends with their dogs. We were not the first ones to come from abroad but we’re proud to be a “Palace Pup”!
