It’s a Dandie kind of place

For the love of dogs… and their humans

Though things have changed a lot in London in the last five years, and we are able to dine in a range of eateries – from Michelin star restaurants to gastro pubs, pizzerias to cafes, there are still many who don’t allow dogs. We are really not short of choice But how much fun it is that there is a cafe for dogs and their hoomans.

Dogs kept coming and going …

And everyone says hello to all the dogs!

Others stopped to have a look.

That was one mighty huge dog!

We were there for lunch last Friday with Martine and Rusty … who is one of their Artists in Residence.

There were dog beds and dog bowls ready for us.

And of curse, a dog menu!

Mum ordered us pancakes!

Oh yum!

George couldn’t wait to have a bite!

Oh, yes, the humans had food to eat too! LOL!

About Dandie:

We love that so many cafés are dog friendly these days, but having occasionally found ourselves on the wrong end of a scornful sigh from less than enthusiastic bipeds, we decided to create Dandie- the café that doesn’t just welcome dogs, but ensures they’re at the heart of everything we do.

And while dogs take the lead, generally there’s a human holding it. So we have a delicious menu of flavour packed, locally sourced vegetarian food for both humans and dogs. And when you try our cakes? Trust us, if you had a tail you’d be wagging it!

By the way, you don’t need a dog to visit us – we know lots of people in London who’d love a dog but can’t have one. Now you can join us at Dandie and get your puppy fix!

At the heart of our vision, there’s only one golden rule – be kind. We know it’s hard to be kind all the time! So for starters, we’re focusing on the 4 P’s:

PLANET: We’re striving to be as sustainability oriented and environmentally conscious as we can. Our own take away packaging is recycled, recyclable & compostable. Third party products that we sell have recycled and recyclable packaging and we commit to recycling anything that’s not eligible for home recycling. We also serve vegan/vegetarian food to support the planet. As a start- up, we don’t yet have the resources to be as wholly sustainable as we’d like, but as we grow, our aim is to be waste free. If there’s anything you think we can improve on when it comes to being kind to our planet, please email us at

PEOPLE: Dandie has zero tolerance for any form of discrimination. We’re determined to make Dandie a judgement free zone and a safe space where our staff and customers feel supported, lifted and seen as the individuals they are. We want to create a warm, genuine and caring environment. It won’t be a perfect world – we’re human, flaws and all, but we’ll right any wrongs if they happen.  Our team will grow over the next year or so and when we are in a position to hire new team members, we will be reaching out to our local homeless shelter and recruiting from there.

PARTNERS: We have teamed up with some incredible small businesses run by women, from Francesca who founded The Female Glaze to Laura from Scrappy & Co. We want to support women, those from ethnic minorities and small start ups to the best of our ability. Dotted around our cafe, you’ll see little story boards explaining the inspiration behind our products and how the brands contribute to the planet and humanity in general. We also feature local artists’ work in the cafe- all female and all extremely talented!

POOCHES: We have a couple of policies regarding the welfare of all of the dogs on site, including our ‘staff dogs’. Dogs are at the forefront of our minds at Dandie and we’ll do whatever we can to accommodate each and every dog. We know that like humans, not all dogs like each other, and each has their own quirk. We’ll do our best to keep all dogs calm – with dog barriers, quiet spaces, muzzles, toys and chews a plenty! We aim to start donating to a non-government funded charity for dogs & animals once we get on our feet.

There’s also a range of services available – DIY dog washing, Dog Grooming services, Dog training Q&A with Naira Kirsch, Human & Dog Yoga and Doggie Birthday Cakes – of course you can book out the place for a birthday party!

MON: Closed TUES-FRI: 08:30-17:00 SAT & SUN: 9:30 – 17:00

Dandie Cafe is in Hampstead – 104 Heath Street, London NW3 1DR
