We were on our way to Phoenix, Arizona when Mum thought – we’re so close to Los Cabos. Let’s hop over for a visit. Yup, that’s Mum. She never misses an opportunity to make memories. She’ll tell you more about that in her comments.
After an 11.45 hour flight from Paris to LA, and a connecting flight, we had finally arrived in Phoenix.

We had hardly slept when we were off again early next morning. The two hour flight was comparatively short after our marathon journey. Mum was both nervous and excited abut crossing the border to Mexico. In the end, it was pretty straightforward with my European pet passport.
Only a 50 minute car journey to the magical Mexican resort region of Cabo San Lucas. As we approached the hotel, we were greeted by whales breaching in the distance. That was amazing to watch!
The arrival at Nobu was dramatic!

And at the other end of the series of stone frames is a Japanese- inspired garden …

And then the next wow factor! A stone-framed ocean view of the Pacific Ocean of migrating whales and sunsets.

We were shown to our room. Each featured elegant, Japanese-influenced décor.

After two and a half days of travelling, we could finally pause in the serenity of Nobu Los Cabos.
Later in the day, we got to meet up with some friends we had met on Instagram (@NYCYorkieGirls) – they were visiting Los Cabos too.

We shared our travel stories as they have travelled extensively.
Of course we all had our sombreros for a photo op.

And then it was the magical hour. It was time to watch a another sunset in another destination. This time it was setting over the Pacific Ocean. Mum had asked a staff to take a photo of us.

A gentle breeze blowing our hair about, when a violinist began playing Falling in Love With You. Swept up in the moment, Mum began dancing with me in her arms. And the staff switched the camera to video.
A dodgy knee didn’t stop her.
We were in the moment. She didn’t care if she embarrassed us. LOL!
May’s comment: I will always watch sunsets with you, George and we will dance to our own tune, though this one was lovely. And I am glad we had made this memory together.
You know how I was always creating new memories with Darcy – returning to places of the past and being there with her made it ours and eradicating previous “unfortunate” circumstances. Los Cabos was last visited more than 20 years ago with an ex. We stayed at Las Ventanas – I remember the view from our suite. I think we had a lovely time, checking out several other resorts while we were there, yet I can’t remember any specifics. The only thing that stuck in my mind was spotting Sean Penn as we checked out. He was leaning against the wall, soaking in the sunshine, looking like a James Dean deep in thought. So I guess there wasn’t much to replace but now I have memories captured on.
This Phoenix-Los Cabos trip had been in the planning for months but it kept getting postponed for all different reasons. Thinking, just like in Greece, I would hit the low season but little did I know that I was hitting the beginning of high season! Rooms were hard to come by.
When I realised that Nobu has a hotel there, we had to check it out. We had such a lovely time at Nobu Portman London when we were there for a staycation (An ‘Irasshaimase!’ Staycation) that I needed to try the Nobu in Los Cabos.
And we were not disappointed.
The hotel was a perfect fusion of architectural elegance and laid-back luxury.
George and I could dine together in all their restaurants as they all have outdoor seating – and you would want to sit outside.

Thank you Nobu Los Cabos for the lovely memories. And this was a must do photo op!

Crossing the Mexican border with George was pretty straightforward. All we needed to have was his European Pet Passport which indicates that he is up today with his rabies shot. We had to register his entry at the Senasica office located at baggage claim. They provided a form to be handed in at Customs before exiting.
Returning to the US from Los Cabos – they didn’t ask to see George’s passport. But they did ask to see my Covid vaccinations. If you’re not American, you must have at least two vaccinations.

That was just beautiful May. When I think back to little bedraggled Bobo, HWHNN, and when you first “ fostered” him, my heart just melts. ❤️❤️🐾🐾
