Mummy learnt that whenever she gives me a bone, she needs to be outside in the park. That smell and the grease doesn’t go down well for her. And she would also time it so I am also off to the groomers after chewing the bone! Apparently I get it on both my front paws and my ears all smell of raw meat.
We tried this for the first time today. Mummy thought maybe we’ll go to a smaller, quieter park. We walked over to Westfield – and yes it was quiet when we arrived except for this little Jack Russell called Daisy.
She was a wee little thing and wanted to play ball.
We did for a little while
And then Mummy gave me my left over venison marrow to chew on … as Daisy looked on. She knew she had no part in this.
She stayed waiting for me to finish but it was a big bone and I wasn’t getting far with the chewing.
So she played by herself!
Soon along came Skye, a staffie-cross …
She had her own golf ball while Daisy played with my ball.
And I was still chewing my bone oblivious to all that was going on.
And more doggies came. This is Kakao and she’s 13 years old! She just had all her teeth removed so she wasn’t herself, it seems. She just sat there and growled at anyone who went near her.
And I was still chewing my bone. I didn’t even say hello to her. I think I was oblivious to everything else that was going on.
Then came little Minx – a Yorkie.
Looks like there was a whole party going on …
Me, I was chewing my bone!
Daisy is beside herself – wondering what was the matter with me!
Even when Coco, a cockapoo turned up, I took no notice.
Instead, Daisy and Coco played together
And I continued to chew.
But then came two very nosey Jack Russells.
The one called Willow came to get my bone – and something nasty went on for a second. She showed her teeth at me! Not nice!
At that point, Mummy said it’s time to go – I’ve chewed for about an hour – think my teeth are clean by now. That’s when I looked up saw that there was a whole gathering of dogs. I didn’t even notice!

May’s comment: That bone kept Darcy occupied for over an hour – took no notice of everything around her – only know to growl when any of them went anywhere near her. She never even looked up at them. Most of them knew to stay away. Well, we weren’t expecting such a gathering. We thought we were going to a quiet park.
