This is the first cloned dog from Britain. Mini Winnie is a cloned dachshund and was born in Seoul on 30th March this year!
Her owner won a competition to have her dog Winnie cloned by scientists in South Korea. It costs £60,000. This is how it all happened!
May’s comment: This is a difficult one on various levels. Would I like a clone of Darcy? Yes and no. Yes because I cannot imagine the day when she will leave me. On the other hand, there’s only one Darcy. She is unique. There’s no other dog like her and I wouldn’t want to replicate her. So while I would want Darcy forever as long as I’m alive, but if not, I would want to thank her for being her and for all the wonderful memories we’ve had together. No one can replace them. And to move on and find that unquestioning love with another canine friend. So I guess the answer is no.
One other thing – one of the guys in the documentary yesterday had eaten dogs!!! The irony of it all – South Koreans eat dogs!
