Morning walk in the palace garden

IMG_4427

Across the hotel where we’re staying is the residential palace of the President of Malta.  We’re allowed to walk the palace gardens – on lead.As we entered San Anton Gardens, we met other dog walkers. IMG_4747And they told us all dogs have to be on leads – oh boo!
IMG_4409 IMG_4410 But we soon started to understand why.

First of all, the garden was huge and formal, in the sense that it was organised.IMG_4412 And then we say the inhabitants of the park. Birds!IMG_4420 Birds …IMG_4465 And whoa! Big birds! Mummy told me that’s a peacock – I’ve never seen one before.IMG_4430 And there were swans – don’t like the ones in Hyde Park – maybe these are more polite.   IMG_4457Indeed they were.

And then we saw a cat!IMG_4418 And two more!IMG_4440 And anotherIMG_4735IMG_4459 And anotherIMG_4462IMG_4738The palace is infested with cats!!!  There must be no rats there.IMG_4445 And birds!IMG_4448 Should we tell the President that he needs to be careful that the birds and cats do not take over his palace grounds?IMG_4449I guess we now know why we have to be on leads. Can you imagine what would have happened if I wasn’t?  All the birds that can fly would have flown and the rest would probably have lost their feathers in fright. As for those cats – well, maybe they would all have ganged up on me.  Let’s not think about that. They can be catty for sure!

And guess what else we came across?IMG_4442 IMG_4444We miss you Georgie! We thought of you everyday!

May’s comment: The San Anton Palace Gardens in Attard has been open to the public since 1882 and it was built by Grand Master Antoine de Paule to complement San Anton Palace – which is now the residence of the Maltese President.
