We went to the North London Vintage Market on Sunday because Mummy wanted to see how George would do at the Dog Show. Mummy thought he would be fit in the Best Rough Diamond category.Well, in short, it was a disaster!!!
It was a very long way to go to Crouch End … and by the time we got there, he was high-strung. He saw us passing the numerous parks and he was desperate to run and chase squirrels. Instead, he was cooped up in a car, passing all the deliciously greens.
From the moment we got out of the car, after a very, very long ride, he yapped and he yapped non stop unless Mummy was holding him. He was excited to see all the other dogs and he was ready for a good run around but he was on the lead.
Tammy had come along with us and she had me and Bruno, sitting on the sidelines, away from the happenings
– hoping not to distract George from what he had to do.
But every time George caught sight of us, he barked! Non stop!!!!! And pulling for dear life to run towards me. He wanted to play and Mummy was trying to show him off.
He also faced stiff competition from Lucca!
These were the other contestants.
This little Yorkie Poo won the category of Best Attitude. He was brilliant – he walked off leash and he did tricks, and very mellow.
A cavapoo won Best Puppy (pssst! His handler was a kid – they always win!)
After the show Betty, a Schnoodle, came to ask us about George. She thought they look very similar.
And then we all piled into Lucca’s car to go home – Georgie, the rascal, Me, the only girl, Lucca, the lover boy and Bruno, Mummy’s boy
It was a long day.
May’s comment: Such an adorable little thing that Georgie is – he wins hearts but he still has ways to go before he will behave himself when expected. Thought I would let him have a go at a local dog show for the fun of it. And realised he’s not ready yet. He sure qualified as a rough diamond!
He created the most commotion – yapping at the sight of Darcy. And there was no controlling him! Oy Vey!
The judges were impressed though that he had only been with us for seven months. So I’m not so crazy to think he’s a good rescue dog candidate – some day in the future. Being adorable doesn’t win prizes because every dog is adorable! 🙂 But they win hearts.
He did sit and do “please” when asked but the other half of the time when in front of the judges, he was yapping at Darcy. And by that time, Darcy who was a little confused why I had George and not her, she was barking back. Not a good scene!!! Another year perhaps.
Have yet to tell another tale of Georgie in the park. More later …
