The talk for weeks was about the heatwave and eventually the drought. There is nowhere in London that is more evident than the London parks where the grounds are parched where once were muddy puddles and green, green grass. How we wish for rain.
Last week when we went to Cliveden House for lunch with friends – it felt like we were in the tropics. And the grounds were brown!

Compare that to how we have always known it …

We were always going to walk the grounds to walk off the lunch but the heat was really quite oppressive. We kept to the shade as much as we could.

The heat made us all lethargic and an ice-cream break was what was needed.

The last few times we were there the ‘Fountain of Love’ was under restoration. This time, the restored fountain was the only sign of any water.
The weather promises to change this coming week – we will all be relieved to get some rain. And maybe the parks will be green again.
May’s comment: It wasn’t quite the same – the plush grounds were parched. Cliveden House parks. Cliveden House blended into the landscape.

We had planned to meet up with our friends, the Moores who were back in the UK from Washington D.C. We had lunch at Astor Grill and time for some catching up – and while their three children have maxed out, it was good to see Sasha and Skye starting to catch up. We alway take a photo of them together each time we meet.

Almost a year to date, we had a reunion with the Moores and all three of my godchildren happened to be in London at the same time. This time just Freya and Sasha were there. Missing Edgar, as well as Darcy.

It was in the same spot where I had taken a photo of Darcy back in June 2014.

Cliveden House has always been a special place for us – three of the four times I’ve stayed there, was always with Darcy. Memories of our stays … .

We will always have Cliveden, and Paris. 🙂
