This is the story of a poodle who was left alone to fend for himself when his owner passed away.
The family sold the house but left the dog. Don’t understand that concept – why couldn’t they have taken the dog to a shelter or ask if someone would take him.
For a year, he waited for his owner to come home living under a nearby shed. The neighbours fed him food and water. Finally someone called Hope for Paws and they found him hiding under the shed. For the first time in a year, he felt the love of a human touch.
He was fostered by the people who rescued him.
Their message is – don’t forget to put your dog in your will.
I am in Mummy’s will – God forbid that if anything should happen to her, I’m going to live with my cousin, Molly in New Jersey. That way I stay in the family.
May’s comment: Morbid thought but seriously valid – especially since I am on my own, at least the executor of my will have instructions on what to do with Darcy. She won’t be short of people wanting her but I guess I want to know who will love her and take care of her.
Hope for Paws is a foster home for hundreds of animals to save animals who suffer and die every year because of negligence and abuse. Out furry family members are too often abandoned in backyards, on the streets or at the shelters. These animals die from starvation, abuse, and euthanization when there’s no space for them at the shelters.
“Pets are not items that can be thrown away or exchanged. Animals are sentient beings who feel pain, love, joy, mourning, and loss. These valuable creatures help us whether it is assisting the blind or finding people under the rubble from an earthquake. They help us in times of war and during human catastrophes.”

Our Mummy and Daddy also have made provisions for us to be taken care of by people who love us and made sure that there is sufficient funding for our food, medical care and anything else we need until we pass of old age! We hope all pet parents do the same for their babies!
