It’s April, and we had a most glorious Spring Day when we visited Lime Wood Hotel in the stunning New Forest National Park earlier this week. It has been awhile since we last saw clear blue skies and the sun shone.
Not so “Mini Tyke” ran with me through the green pastures.
And we explored parts of the hotel where I was allowed to – as dogs are not permitted in the main house except for the reception and the boot room!
There were quite a few four-legged furry guests. I met Ruby and Simba.
And that night, the almost full moon shone brightly. It was beautiful seeing the reflection of the moon in the pond …
And we looked up the skies and guess what? Once again, the Ursa Minor was just above the Coach House where we stayed.
Just as we were leaving the next day, the sky clouded over and it was starting to rain again. Well, I guess they say, “April showers bring May flowers“.

This is very much a culinary destination. Harnett Holder & Co. is a relaxed and comfortable restaurant – full of character and relaxed in style. Angela Hartnett and Lime Wood’s Luke Holder, with their team, create locally sourced Italian dishes with a respectful nod to the seasons.
We were there for a birthday celebration and we were seated at the kitchen table.
What a feast we had as Luke Holder created the menu and also cooked for us.
Sasha, a foodie himself, was invited to help with the preparation of two of the main courses.
Except for the lobby, dogs are not allowed in the main house of Lime Wood Hotel and in any of the public spaces. Guests with dogs stay in the lodges and cottages.
So it is not ideal if you cannot leave your dogs in the room. You can have of course have room service. On warmer days, you can dine outside on the patio with your dogs.
There is a healthy eating place, Raw & Cured food bar in the Herb House Spa which offers natural and healthy food. As the tables are outside or tented, dogs are allowed there.
