Sunday in Chelsea

The sun comes up quite early already these days.  Sunday mornings are usually nice and quiet. Particularly today as it’s a Bank Holiday weekend.  We go for a quick walk down Gilston Road towards The Boltons – Mummy loves looking at the houses there.  On the way back, we buy the Sunday papers at Fulham News- I sit outside to wait.

We cross the street over to Gail’s for breakfast and to read the papers.  We have to sit outside, not allowed in, but it’s fun watching other pooches going by and I woof at them!  Or growl at them under my breath – depending on whether they’re big black dogs or ones my size.

I don’t usually like to jump onto Mummy’s lap except when there’s a treat, but every time at Gail’s, I jump up on her lap even before she asks me to because I know I’m in for a few bits of croissant.  But this morning we have buttermilk pancakes – something different.

Yum! Yum!

As it’s Sunday we drive to Hyde Park – because there’s parking!  We go in our “new” car.

There are lots of people and dogs out.  First I did some squirreling and then we played ball – back and forth, back and forth. Again the heat, makes me very hot after a little running.

It’s exhausting this chasing balls

Inevitably we run into friends.  We met Lilo, a cockapoo friend from our Hyde Park Cockapoo Club.  Later we met a cavapoo, Teddy. We hope he will join us the next time we have our walk.

All too soon we had to leave to meet Sui Phin for Sunday Roast at Henry Root. One of our favourite places to go in the neighbourhood.  We are allowed inside, and sometimes there are also other dogs there.  The maitre’d gets a little nervous about us barking, but I know this place and I’m chilled.  I’m not territorial here. I even have my own bowl for water.

After lunch, we wandered over to Daunt Books for a browse … nothing much for me to do here. So I lie down to rest. We’have had a busy day.

Take your time – I’ll have a nap.

And when we get home – it’s my time to eat – minced raw beef, no roast for me!

Mays’ comment: The Henry Root on Park Walk is one of the first places we discovered that let dogs in.  Really lovely atmosphere – very much a neighbourhood place.  Very good Sunday Roast.
