I stayed home alone last night when Mummy went to see the award-winning play The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
Truth be told, Mummy first wanted to see it because it mentioned “dog” in the title but maybe her instincts told her it would be a good play. It did win the 2013 Olivier Awards for best play and best actor.
May’s comment: Poor Wellington was the dog that was killed at the very beginning of the play by a pitch fork. But in the end Christopher gets his own dog – Sandy! When the little puppy was lifted out of the box, the audience went Awwww! When the puppy licked Christopher’s face, we went – Awwwww! When Christopher walked the puppy – we went – Awwwww! Again. That was the best part of the play!
Oh, the play – yes, it was very good. Brilliant performance, fab staging – sweet story. Well worth the five hours I left Darcy at home – that was the first time she’s been on her own at home. I kept looking at my watch – still has separation anxiety.
