Darcy’s Gotcha Day is May 16, 2011.
It is the day we became we. The day my life changed course.

Fourteen years ago, I was done with corporate life. I would never have been able to have a dog otherwise. I was living on my own, and my home was exactly as I wanted it, but there was no life in it.
For all the wrong reasons, I got a dog, and yet fate brought her to me.
The story of how Darcy came into my life is well-documented. But what I didn’t know then was that from the moment she entered my world, she would change everything. She shifted my life in ways I could never have imagined.
For so long, I had been tied to my career. My days revolved around what I needed to do, what I needed to achieve, and what I needed for myself.
And then Darcy came, and suddenly life was no longer just about me. It became about us. About companionship, responsibility, love, presence, joy, and purpose. She brought life to a home that had felt still and to a heart that did not yet understand how much it needed her.
She changed the course of my life. Not in one big moment, but in a thousand small, everyday ways.
And somewhere, in the quiet corners of my heart, I hold onto this thought…
I don’t talk about it often, but I carry this quiet hope – that this isn’t the end of our story.
That one day, somehow, we will find each other again.
And she will come running towards me, just like she always did.
