To all my fellow black dogs –

Happy 1st October and Happy National Black Dog Day!

National Black Dog Day on October 1 encourages the adoption of a dog in the darker shades.

This day exists because – Black dogs are less likely to be adopted for no other reason than their coloring. Regardless of behavior, size, breeding, personality or age, the phenomenon persists.

If you are seeking to add a canine companion to your pack, consider adopting one with an ebony sheen. Their loyalty is no less or more than another dog, but they need a home, too.

I know how that feels. I was overlooked in the fostering and adoption process. I almost never made it to the UK and if not for the Universe stepping in to intervene the course of events, I would never have made it. Because Mummy was looking for a white cockapoo girl.

But here I am today And these are just some of all my beautiful and gorgeous black dogs!

LOLAMYRSKY (from Finland)MAC & MAISYHEBEDANTETED ( a rescue from Battersea)Every single one of them bringing so much joy and love to their owners. And they are my friends. Together we will remind everyone not to overlook us because of our colour.

May’s comment: National Black Dog Day was founded by pet lifestyle expert and author Colleen Paige.

I am so proud to have my own little black dog!

  1. I have always had a fondness for black dogs. Before I rescued my last little boy I had all black dogs. They all passed from old age. My boy now is different than any I have ever had. A white and apricot maltipoo.
