The Cadogan has long been a playground for socialites and bohemians like Oscar Wilde and the British actress, Lillie Langtry since it opened it’s doors in 1887.

In the lobby with the original mosaic floor and staircase still intact, it feels stylish yet homely, sense of an intimate place, yet fashionable place to stay in Chelsea. Throughout the hotel there are notable touches in reference to their famous residents.

We couldn’t wait to get to our room. And we were not disappointed!
There are books scattered around the rooms, curated by John Sandoe Books in Chelsea, and the artwork throughout has been commissioned from young British artists.

Mum loved this little alcove where she sat blogging.

Looking out the window, we saw top of the buildings typical of the neighbourhood.

And looking down at familiar streets that we drive past so often.

They had home made biscuits for us.

And a note from Dash, the resident dog – though she’s on her summer break!

Now, shall we go shopping?

The Cadogan is perfectly positioned between the luxury of Knightsbridge and the artistic spirit of Chelsea. Just where Mum needed to be for a quick shop just along Sloane Street. We returned in time for our Afternoon Tea in the private haven of Cadogan Place Gardens – across the street from the hotel.

Oooh! Some fizzy for Mum.

The weather was perfect for a picnic and it was just us in the park.

In the evening we joined Mum for dinner in the Adam Handling Bar …

And in the spirit of the Olympic Games, Mum had a Wasabi Shiso Mojito!

May’s comment: Standing at the crossroads of fashionable Knightsbridge and artsy Chelsea, this is a perfect destination for a London staycation.

The curation of books and art makes the hotel feel homely. And they made doggies feel very welcome – with lots of attention and home made biscuits in the room, at Afternoon Tea and dinner! If we wanted in-room dining for doggies – that was possible too. There’s much more to come, we were told.
Dogs are welcomed to dine at the Adam Handling Bar and Terrace for all meals including Afternoon Tea – but we decided to have a picnic in the gardens across the street. That is the huge private haven of Cadogan Place Gardens. Guests get keys to its gates, and can picnic, stroll and play tennis there on its two courts.
During the summer months, hotel guests may request to have Adam Handling’s Afternoon Tea in the gardens.

Afternoon Tea by Adam Handling was winner of best contemporary afternoon tea in the 2019 Afternoon Tea Awards. Served in the bar area of the hotel, it is inspired by childhood memories of delicious dining at his grandmother’s house. Experience a perfect blend of history, nostalgia and show stopping technique. As this is National Afternoon Tea Week,
