Do you remember earlier in the year when I achieved my Expert Trick Dog Title?
Mum never thought I would ever get there, but with a lot of Patience, Practice and Persistence (the 3 P’s) – I got there. And she was so Pleased! LOL!
Our Trick Dog Training began when Lockdown happened. And we did quite a few and gained numerous certificates. This was a fun one that Mum did with Darcy – The ABC Challenge.
May’s comments: If you are interested in your dogs learning a few tricks, you will be able to pick up a few training tips at The Big Woof on 26th and 27th August. This free event will take place in and around Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross to celebrate International Dog Day.
Mr Darcy and Bailey are two Do More With Your Dog (DMWYD) Grand Champion trick dogs – the highest level of achievement in this structured trick training programme created by renowned US dog trainer Kyra Sundance. The DMWYD programme encourages positive training methods to reinforce trick training in a fun and playful way. The main aim is to build up your dog’s skills whilst also developing trust and friendship.

Owners Ju-Li and Michelle were motivated to do trick training with their dogs, Mr Darcy and Bailey to mentally and physically stimulate them, as well as develop communication and deeper bonds with their furry companions. Ju-Li and Michelle are firm believers in keeping training short, fun and always using positive reinforcement methods to get the best out of their dogs. Tricks can be as simple as ‘giving paw’ increasing in complexity to your dog playing basketball or pushing a shopping cart!
The trick training sessions at The Big Woof will be an opportunity for dog owners to learn some basics of trick training, watch step-by-step demonstrations on how to teach a number of different tricks, and then have a go themselves with their own dog whilst getting one on one help from Ju-Li and Michelle.
The aim that at the end of the session you leave having the knowledge, skills and confidence to continue on your dog trick training journey. There will also be time for questions at the end where dog owners can ask anything they’ve ever wondered about trick training.
