Stealing the show

Riley was on BBC’s Breakfast Show this morning.  He is a rescue dog from Manchester Dog Home.  He was a stray.

The subject was about re-homing “dangerous” dogs in families with young children. Riley was an example.

Recently a four-year old girl was killed by the family dog who was re-homed just two months before. Riley’s mother who works for Manchester Dogs Home said that it’s all down to our training.  If we have not been trained properly and domesticated, we can still bite.  And a lot of the re-homed dogs most likely have never had training. Or sometimes they have been trained to fight.

It is a sad topic for us because we are absolutely loyal to our Mummies and Daddies. But sometimes things upset us and we react.

Anyway, Riley, big black staffie was adorable on the show!  He was on the sofa!!!  He nuzzled close to the presenter and rolled on his back. The presenters looked a little nervous. 🙂  Apparently Bill Turnbull would be appalled that Riley was on the sofa! Hmmm. Mr. Turnbull?

An interesting observation – there seems to always be some news about us every week.  A few days ago it was about Fuzz, the injured Metropolitan Police Dog. I think they still love us and we’re still the nation’s favourite pet.
