It’s been a long trip for us. We are usually away for a couple of days except when we went to New York. This time we’ve been on the road for at least eight days. Today we are finally going home.
First a good-bye to my new friend, Victoria. I had a good time with her – she played with me, got me to do tricks and took care of me. But I must make sure Mummy doesn’t leave me here. So I am watching her every move.
Alberto came early this mooring to give us a ride to Linate airport because Mummy was nervous that we might not find a taxi that will take dogs – quite difficult in Paris and Milan to find cabs easily that will take me. Grazie, Alberto!
Checking in – they were surprised how big I am – but Mummy reassured them that we have permission to fly together – and that my travel bag looks surprisingly unusual for a pet carrier – well, that’s the beauty of it. Made by Alice Foxx for me so it is easy to put away and practical for carrying me with not much added weight.
We were told that I had to be in my travel bag whilst in the airport till I get on the plane – sounds somewhat familiar but I was allowed to walk to security on lead. When we went to security, my collar had to be taken off and Mummy carried me through. On the other side, she put my collar back on and the security staff made so much fuss with me that she knew she could get away without me being in the bag! The security guy warned us that there’s a security dog – thank you! We’ve had an incident before so, we avoided that one.
We walked through the airport fully aware that anyone might ask us to do accordingly but no one did. Even the police took no notice of us. So we knew we’re ok. We went to get some colazione – cappuccino, panettone and water – and it was all fine.
Here we are at the boarding gate and I know now I need to sit quietly and wait for boarding.
Now we will fly to our “Transit City” aka Paris and from there, train and tunnel crossing to the U.K.
It’s been a really lovely trip – good food, good friends, new places, new faces and new experiences.
Well, good food for Mummy. She did manage to pack my Honey’s raw food for almost all our days except for my last two meals where she gave me Royal Canine from a can. Bravo, Mummy – I know it’s not easy travelling with raw but you somehow managed.
It will also be good to be home to our own bed.
May’s comment: Well, this time it’s a more civilised waking hour at 06.45. One last plane ride and once on the ground, it will be a pretty straight forward journey back – no more carrying Darcy on my shoulder!
It’s a full flight today so will be interesting to see how it goes!
Have learnt much about travelling with Darcy … like booking flights at a more reasonable hour – according to her bathroom needs for one. Even though she’s amazingly good and can hold until next destination – it’s not fair on her. And so I would spare an hour before going to the airport to make sure she’s all taken care of.
