We left early yesterday morning from Paddington Station for Gloucestershire and arrived at Kemble where Sarah and Charlie met us at the station.
We were whisked off to Westonbirt Arboretum where we had a good chase and played tug-o-war. Mummy’s camera wasn’t working but there was a classic photo opportunity when Charlie immersed himself in a muddy puddle! He just sat in it in defiance. I was running around hoping to run it as well but Mummy wasn’t having any of that!
So with all that muddying, we had to rinse off our black paws before we got into the car. This was just a photo pose as I wasn’t sitting at the back. I clambered over the seats to the front to sit on Mummy’s lap – for a better view of the world.
I saw the countryside views …and cows … Then we stopped for lunch at Hare & Hounds We waited to be fed some crumbs but none came so we both took naps – tired from our earlier run Mummy and Sarah went to the Highgrove store in Tetbury to do some shopping While we waited in the car – taking in some sun. Then a drive to Cirencester for some cakes and tea at Jack’s. Hmmmm. Lots of good stuff … But none for us pooches. On our way out, we met a 4 month old cockapoo – Hector! He still has a lot of growing to do! 🙂Soon it was time to say goodbye to Sarah and Charlie …Time to get on the train to go home to London. I looked out of the window as we watched the fields go past and the sun setting on a perfect day.
May’s comment: A very tired dog on the train ride home and a very happy Mummy. We had such good luck with the weather. We expected a cold rainy day. Instead, we had cold sunshine shared with friends in the lovely English countryside.
It was just so special to share the day with a good friend who totally understands and just as besotted with her poo as me. There was no need to explain anything I did with Darcy because she understood. It was as much giving and forgiving and loving for each other’s poo.
It was a perfect day – well maybe except for the fish and chips at lunch.
