A wedding celebration took Lulu and I to Istanbul. The three day affair kept us busy in the evenings and left the day to explore the city.
We had travelled with Teen Tyke (aka Sasha), Mini Tyke (aka Syke) and their parents to Turkey. Their first time there, in my case, revisiting for the third time but the first time with a dog. I had been told Turkey is very dog-friendly and felt reassured taking Lulu with me.
We went on the tram to the various destinations of interest. The weather was surprisingly cold and it was wet when we walked around.
Istanbul is the only city in the world that spans two continents—Europe and Asia. It’s story is a living, breathing narrative. Its past is not a distant memory but an integral part of its present and future, continually shaping its identity as both an ancient wonder and a modern metropolis.

I took Lulu with me and obviously we couldn’t go inside any of the mosques but I have already visited all of them on previous visits.
We went to the Grand Bazaar, which doesn’t look anything like how I remembered it.

We went into all the shops and had lunch at a local restaurant – all very dog-welcoming.

All along the way, we saw a whole lot of cats all around but hardly any stray dogs. We saw just one.

There are a few more places I would have liked to have visited but time did not permit us. It was a fast and furious kind of trip this time.
Where we stayed: The wedding was at The Peninsula Hotel.

Located on the Bosphorus River, with sunsets and full moon rising, it couldn’t have been a more perfect location.
The first evening of Sally and Neil’s wedding celebration took place in the Gallada, the roof top restaurant. I purposefully brought Lulu to this as I didn’t know too many people and she was definitely an ice-breaker. The second evening was the highlight of the three-day celebration, the show was on.
And as if it was just such a fairy tale evening, there presiding over the Bosphorus was a full moon!
