“YOLO,” says Le Mutt

IMG_0715 (1)

When Mum saw this on the back of his hoodie on Pet-Edition – she was thinking – WHAT’S YOLO?!??!!

When she found out that it stood for YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE – she had to get it for George – even though he seems to have nine lives!

As you know, George started life on the streets in Hungary. He survived on his own for more than a year till he was culled by an Agency and thrown into a Killing Station.

Thank goodness for the Animal Shelters there working with Hungary Hearts Dog Rescue who plucked him out from the jaws of death. And so his new life began.

When Mum got him, everyone was curious what he is – so she had him DNA tested and we think he is a Maltese x Yorkshire Terrier x ShihTzu cross.

There’s probably a lot more to him than meets the eye.

But whatever he is we are glad he is in our lives.

Sometimes pesky little brothers do make life more interesting.

On this National Mutt Day – we salute George. He is Le Mutt extraordinaire!

And to all the other mutts in the world – we remember you specially today.

May’s comment: National Mutt Day celebrates mixed breed dogs who sometimes get overlooked. Today reminds people to learn more about them – so many in need of homes. Adopt if you can.

George came to us accidentally – I was a failed fosterer. And yes, there were days when having two seemed overwhelming. And George has not been easy. He is rid with issues – from physical to mental.

From deteriorating cruciate ligament, to luxating patella and lots of warts that seemed worrying to anger issues – that seems to have been carried over from his previous life – motorcycles, big trucks and men carrying big boxes angers him. And his anxiety in cars. All a mystery.

But the little joys, and there are many, that George brings into our lives make it all worth the while. Thinking about how he might not have survived running around on the streets by his little self, makes me hug him extra tight and am glad he is safe now.

There are so many like him out there needing a home. And there are so many angels out there who work endlessly to find homes for those abandoned or those who have never know what it is like to have a home. Thank you.

  1. When you look at the before and after pics of George it’s hard to believe he’s the same dog. I wonder if he knows how lucky he is, bless him.?

  2. Sending you, George and Darcy love and hugs. You make a beautiful family. ❤️❤️❤️
