Mummy has both … it took her awhile to realise that her diamond has no tail to wag, no sad eyes to melt her heart and no paws to reach out for affection.
A diamond has a lot of promotional funding to say “a diamond is forever” and there’s even a song that says “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend”. But we pooches – we speak quietly, consistently and loyally. We’ve proven our loyalty and unconditional love for centuries – actually longer than diamonds have. And even though we’re not forever together, we’re forever in your heart. While diamonds are created in explosives situation and compressed carbon, we are “an explosive paradox of fur, teeth and enthusiasm.”
May’s comment: True. I’ll still keep the diamonds but now that I have Darcy, “best friend” takes on a different dimension.
