We are always looking for the final piece of the puzzle to make a picture whole, and in some cases, to complete our lives. But sometimes we lose a piece of that puzzle … that forever leaves a gap in our lives.
Our cousin Molly was everything to my Aunt and Uncle in New Jersey. On the night of the 11th Sept, she fell asleep and gained her wings. Molly had just turned 14 a couple of weeks ago on the 31st August.

She’s had a heart murmur for years but it was only in recent months when things started to go wrong. Her legs were starting to give way. A few days before she passed, she started having trouble breathing. They took her to the vet twice and both times they gave her oxygen. On her second visit to the vet, while she was on oxygen, she fell asleep one last time.
Good night, Molly. You have wings now. You can fly.

Imagine there’s no Heaven, and no Hell … above us only sky – and all the people and animals living together forever.
You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. And some day – we will all be together again.
Molly, you will always be in our hearts.

For now, run and play with our friends who are over at Rainbow Bridge …

May’s comment: When I lived in New York, Molly would come and visit sometimes – leaving me in bewilderment as I watched her scampering around the flat wondering if she would have an accident in the apartment. I had no idea about how dogs are house trained as pets. Molly was probably my first close encounter with dogs as a pet in the home. She was always pristine and so much the centre of my sister’s life. I didn’t get it. Not until I got Darcy, that my perspective changed and I was only too keen for the cousins to meet.
When I returned to NYC, the summer of 2012, I was excited for Darcy to meet her cousin.

And years later in 2017, George also met Molly when we visited Philadelphia.

Molly, you were always sweet, beautiful and I know how much loved you were. There’s not enough words to say to your mum and dad – and can only imagine the emptiness in their hearts.
