Little Tyke going off to boarding school was a major milestone for him and for all concerned. After we dropped him off at school, we all felt a little lost and Mum was also knackered from all the things that needed to be done to get him there! She needed a staycation and chose The Milestone Hotel to mark the occasion.
The Milestone is a Grade-II listed Victorian building stands across the street from Kensington Gardens which makes it very convenient for us to take our walkies.
We’ve been to The Milestone on many occasions for Afternoon Tea but this time we stayed the night.
When you enter the striking red-and-white brick façade building, you feel like you’ve walked into old world charm, beautiful rich furnishings and exquisite original arts.
They upgraded us to The Venetian suite …
And Mum loved how everything has her initial on it! LOL!
We had our own beds and towels …
And they considerately gave us dog tags with The Milestone info on it. That way if we, ahem, I mean if George got lost in the park, they would know where to return him!
We could have dined in the restaurant but it was smallish and there was another dog at the corner table. Instead we dined in the Park Lounge – where we’ve had Afternoon Tea many a time.
And the black and white Conservatory is always available for a cuppa or we’ve had Afternoon Teas served there.
The Milestone Hotel sits right across the street from Kensington Gardens, facing Kensington Palace. And a short distance to the shops on High Street Kensington, and walking distance across the park to Notting Hill and Bayswater. 1 Kensington Court, London, W8 5DL
May’s comment: It’s been more than a month since we had a staycation – as all of August was trying to get building works done and making sure everything was ready for Sasha and his father’s long awaited arrival. After sending Sasha off to boarding, I needed a break. Off we went to The Milestone Hotel, a Red Carnation Hotel which has always been known to be dog-friendly.
I was so tired and duly fell asleep by 10pm – which is unusual for me, and slept through the night. I guess I needed this staycation more than I thought.
We are in the process of compiling a list of all our London staycation experiences during the lockdown. We’ve done about 16 in total and thought surely we have to add a Red Carnation hotel to our list because from the very beginning they have always welcomed us – from the very first Hyde Park Cockapoo Christmas Afternoon Tea at The Milestone (2016)
Darcy’s 8th birthday party for 12 of her friends at Egerton House Hotel, another Red Carnation Hotel in London.
Not to mention all the other times when we had been for Afternoon Teas at their other London properties – The Rubens and The Montague.
One of our most memorable stay was at Red Carnation’s Ashford Castle in Ireland –
and have been planning to return some day. Made a little bit more complicated now that Ireland is in the EU and we’re not.
