On Saturday morning we woke up early, all excited at the prospect of what was to come. It was Chelsea Dog Day!!! There was so much to do so we set off early. Before all the shops opened, we went for breakfast at Anya Cafe …

Mum said the Otto’s Buttery, which is a Scottish version of a croissant was reinvented by Anya’s son Otto – was so buttery delicious that I had to try some.

Fuelled and ready to take on the day, we set off to check out what’s happening in Chelsea to celebrate Dog Day!
Just outside the Carlton Towers we came across this thoughtful installment with bowls full of dog biscuits! We couldn’t believe our luck.

Darcy and I hurriedly gobbled up three biscuits each as our hoomans were trying to take our photos. It was early on in the day and we hadn’t realised that there would be treats all day long. LOL! It is after all Chelsea Dog Day!
We hurried over to Pavilion Road for an appointment at Papersmiths.

We had our photos taken by Woof Portraits.
As soon as that was done, we couldn’t wait to get to Moyses Stevens to try on the garlands.
And it seemed like everyone’s else’s favourite stop.

So who do you think wore them best? Answer: flowers make everyone look better.
Across the street inside Peter Jones & Partners, there was a never ending queue of pooches waiting to be photographed by one of our favourite people – Andrew of Raven Imagery.

We went to say hello but didn’t wait in the never ending queue of pooches (we’ve scheduled another private session with him) as there’s a lot going on across the street at the Duke of York Square!

There was a hub of hoomans and their pooches, all gathering and mingling around the Four Legged Foodies Market. These are just some of the stalls selling doggy treats and wares!

And importantly, there was Dogs Trust. All this is in support of the charity.

Dog Day wasn’t just at the Duke of York Square, all over Chelsea, things were happening. From treats, to books about dogs and everything dogs!

at Picturehouse Fulham Road

And free puppacinos for us at LMH Townhouse –

We ran into so many hoomans and doggos …

Even in the busyness of the square, amongst all the hoomans and their pooches, we managed to meet some of our blog readers!

We were particularly delighted to meet Ellie, who was adopted from Harbin Slaughterhouse Survivors Today she trots along with her owner, Maureen, around Chelsea. Maureen had learn about SHS after reading about Tiny Tim on our blog.
At the end of a long day and just before our hoomans could finally have something to eat, while we have been chomping on treats all day, we went to check out Prada’s latest dog collection –
Mum spotted a nylon hooded rain coat for me to try on!
It was a perfect fit! And Mum did love it on me!£!£! LOL!
And then there was this harness. I can have my own backpack to match Mum’s!

Isn’t that cool?!?!?! What an exciting find at the end to the day!
Just a note to say there were at least six dogs in the store with their hoomans. We are usually the only ones there whenever Mum goes to the store.
Our hoomans finally got to sit down for a meal at The Cadogan. And we toasted to a fabulous day for us Doggos!

And we were not left out. We had our own menu!
And so that was a wrap! The Chelsea Dog Day – the first and we hope not the last!
With so many happy people and their dogs around – there was certainly a lot of happy energy!
Thank you to all the participants and all who came to join us on the day.
May’s comment: This was a day we had dreamt of for years. When it finally happened, Darcy is no longer here to see the dream fulfilled.
At the end of day, we veered off King’s Road to Sydney Street where Darcy’s bench is installed at St. Luke’s Garden. We sat for a moment to recall the early days, a good decade ago, when we set out with a mission to find all the dog friendly places so that I could carry on living my daily life with her by my side. Today showed how far we have come! We now have a London borough dedicating a day to celebrate dogs! And I know Darcy’s looking down and smiling with approval.

We know how much she loved her treats so we brought her some cakes from Dolci Dog Patisserie in rainbow colours. George then did the honours of eating them all on her behalf. And he did her proud by eating them all in one go!
And we are truly grateful to those who also took the time to stop by on the day.

And we left a biscuit for Darcy on the bench –

What a wonderful day you all had and course Darcy was there watching and celebrating with you and George .
George looks so handsome in his flower garland and his very smart new raincoat .
Lucky boy 💖
Looks like such fun! Thank your for all the pics of George and his friends!! Made my day!
I LOVE reading your blog and seeing you inspire so many dog lovers makes my heart warm! I only wish we lived in Chelsea as it’s amazing how the community make having a dog so enjoyable. A friend in the north cannot understand that my dog Henry comes on shop visits with me into WIndsor and thinks it’s odd to take him- well Henry my cavapoo is in our lives and why should he stay home when there’s so much to see in the world. Thank you for posting photos of Chelsea dog day and we may venture there next year if they repeat and Henry can walk those footsteps and enjoy the treats that George and his friend did.
