When Mum was looking for that one last piece of art to go on her gallery wall, she found Sarah Westwood. She had seen an illustration that Sarah had done for our friends Anne and Skylar and loved the simplicity and playfulness of her drawing.
When Sarah asked what Mum wanted, she thought to create an illustrated memory. One that was never captured by the lens.
Cliveden House holds a lot of memories for Mum. From birthdays before she had dogs to dog birthdays, it was always a special place. When I came along, I joined them on the couple of stays but somehow there was never a photo taken of just the three of us.
Mum had to gather some bits and bobs of us from different photos taken through the years, and from that Sarah created a picture that Mum would have taken if she knew that we were never going to return as a trio.
And now it hangs on our gallery wall – amongst others created by other artists.
May’s comments: It wasn’t an easy commission for Sarah as she was not re-creating something that already existed. She tried several aspects of the three of us in front of Cliveden House. We had three iterations before we finally came to the picture I had in mind. And now it hangs on our gallery wall amongst all the other memories created by other artists.

You can contact Sarah Westwood on her Instagram page for commissions.
