Well, I didn’t know I was going to have company. But sure enough she came bounding up to my crate.
She had been for her big walk with Agnes – who I have grown to love since.
She sniffed me out and deemed me harmless. Well, that’s what she thought for the first two months until my gain in confidence and began resource guarding.
Anyway back to the day we met. When she accepted my presence, “foster Mummy” let me out of the crate and immediately I went to say hello to Agnes.
And when I went over to say hello to “foster Mummy” again – that’s when Missy growled at me! Off-limits, according to her.
Then Mummy sat us both down for a conversation.
Look at Missy’s displeasure at what she was being told!!! LOL!!!
I know Darcy does love me. She thinks she owns me. Whenever I play with any of the other dogs, she gets jealous.
At home I am the one who always instigates play and when I do she does play with me. Sometimes she growls at me as I am annoying her. But then she comes alive and we tumble around and chase each other – biting each other’s ears.
I would like to think that when I am away she misses me but I have a feeling she doesn’t. Because every time I come home from going to “work” with Sarah, she gets so annoyed when I come through the door.
But I love her. I think she’s fab – I think she’s beautiful. She’s quite reserved and she is really, really attached to Mummy. I, not so much. I’m more pragmatic. I’ve probably seen more in my short life even though she’s travelled to more places than I have.
Well, we are a family of three. I know I have disturbed her world a little but we now co-exist peacefully. There’s no more fighting for positions – we take turns sleeping right next to Mummy’s head, and we each have out one-on-one Mummy time.
This is our first walk together.
Mummy hasn’t taken one of us lately. Will be good to compare.
May’s comment: I was so nervous about Darcy meeting George and how she was going to take to him. The best thing I ever did quite by accident was to make sure for one that Darcy had a very big walk that day that would tire her out. And to be sure she was still out when George arrived home.
She tends to be quite territorial when new dogs enter her home and we did not need the extra stress of her barking at George who would already have had a traumatic day. She came right in and went straight to the cat to check him out. Not a single bark.
It didn’t take long before I knew it was ok to let George out for his meet-n-greet, George immediately went up to Agnes but when he came up to me was when Darcy growled at him.
There were teething pains and there came a time when George gained in confidence but not in assurance that his life was now cared for. A very uncomfortable two months where I really wondered what I had done to Darcy’s life – and mine, for that matter.

I have been enjoying George’s story very much and how he came to be with Miss Darcy and May. Sometimes things are just meant to be and it seems this was the case for this family.
Love the way in which this blog is written 😉
