Animals in War Memorial

After a walk in Hyde Park, Rocko and I went to visit the Animals in War Memorial.

This monument is a tribute to all the animals that served, suffered and died alongside the British, Commonwealth and Allied forces in the wars and conflicts of the 20th century.

IMG_1518It was a quiet moment for us.

IMG_1503There was a dog there as well.

May’s comment: Superbly erected at Brook Gate, Park Lane (along quite a busy road), The Animals in War Memorial Fund was a monument made possible from a national appeal and the generosity of many individual donors, charities and companies.  It was unveiled by HRH The Princess Royal in November 2004 at the 90th anniversary of the start of World War I.

  1. I visited there in 2005, and was impressed. your dogs must know, as humans do, the love and respect we have for our fallen four footed heroes, and in their own way they are showing theirs.

  2. I love this monument – it is by far the most moving war memorial ever. Thank you for the lovely photos of Darcy looking solemn.
