Archie & Nacho’s Staycations …

Mama7

Archie and Nacho are our friends who also write a blog about dog-friendly London places (The Four Legged Foodies) Like us, they too have been checking out a few dog-friendly London hotels. And they have kindly shared their experiences with us.

Mama Shelter is a cool and hip hotel with an element of playfulness, created by French designers Dion & Arles. 437 Hackney Road, London E2 8PP, UK

The overall design gives a real home from home feel, with plenty of sofas and comfy chairs and display units full of objet d’art and curiosities to admire. There is even much to look at on the ceilings.

The restaurant is a huge space where dogs can dine with their humans and the bar is reminiscent of a Mediterranean courtyard  with its glass roof and tropical plants.

As well as eating and drinking, there are other things at Mama Shelter to keep you entertained like video games, a foosball table, live music at weekends and even a karaoke room.

BLOG: Staycation with Mama

Archie and Nacho say: We loved how friendly the staff were to us, even writing our own special welcome message on the mirror in our room. The room was spacious with somewhere to put our stroller and a place for the humans to eat. Plus a HUGE bed for them which is one of the things they love most about staying in a hotel. There was also a giant TV, which was lucky because the rain didn’t stop all night so we stayed in and watched Secret Life of Pets 2.

We also love that we can go in any part of the hotel, especially the restaurant as we don’t like to dine alone!

Gaynor likes: I love the overall feel of this hotel which is both stylish and homely. It’s great to feel the dogs are really welcome with a bed and bowl in the room (maybe some treats would be great too). The hotel is well placed for exploring the shops and cafes on Columbia Road and a walk in Victoria Park.

The Hoxton, Shoreditch is a great space to work, rest and play. The overall décor and design is in line with all their worldwide hotels and offers a place hang out all day with your laptop or eat and drink and then stay the night. 81 Great Eastern St, London EC2A 3HU

BLOG: The Hoxton Hotel

Archie and Nacho say: Our room was small but very stylish and had everything we needed, there was a lovely comfy bed just for us and two bowls. We loved how welcoming the staff were and how spacious the hotel lobby and bar area were as we weren’t allowed in the restaurant but we can have dinner and breakfast in the bar area.

Gaynor likes: The hotel is perfectly placed for exploring Shoreditch. The rooms are minimalist but stylish and very comfortable. The hotel bar can get very noisy at weekends with a DJ and a young crowd but our sleep was not disturbed so they must have good soundproofing.

Hoxton Hotels are a series of open-house hotels inspired by the diversity and originality of the streets and scenes that surround each property. There are eight spread across the US and Europe. It all began in London – where there are three Hoxton Hotels:

The Hoxton, Shoreditch 81 Great Eastern St, London EC2A 3HU

The Hoxton, Holborn 199-206 High Holborn, Holborn, London WC1V 7BD

The Hoxton, Southwark 40 Blackfriars Rd, South Bank, London SE1 8NY

May’s comment: Thank you Gaynor, Archie and Nacho. We have added these to our London Stays list. So if you’re coming to London or if you fancy having a staycation in our lovely city, check out these tried and tested dog friendly hotels. Some are more dog friendly than others.
