When we arrived home, I was taken straight into the kitchen area. There was a baby-gate that stopped me from going to the rest of the apartment. In the far corner of the kitchen was a big brown cushy bed that I climbed into to claim it as mine.
I was tired from the grooming, walk in the park and the excitement of coming home.
Mummy sat on the floor and looked at me with a very confused look on her face. I don’t think she quite knew what to do with me. She rolled a green ball towards me – when I got it, I chewed at it. Then she squeaked the bone and I went to look at it. I think we just looked at each other wondering what would happen next.
Then she left me in the kitchen behind those gates! I wasn’t happy so I whined and she told me to be quiet.
All day I was in the kitchen. Mummy came and peeked at me and went away. She took me out a few times and gave me supper. Then I could see her sitting in the living room watching telly – and every time I whined, she would shout “quiet!” I did not understand that I wanted to be with her.
Eventually she went to bed but I didn’t sleep in my bed. It was too far away. I sat by the gate all night on the hard wooden floor and watched out for her.
