After that long, long train journey (Mummy can we avoid trains on Sundays?) we arrived at Chesterfield. And then a taxi ride till we arrived at Rowsley and here we are – at The Peacock.
Ah, look – there’s some resemblance of this place being dog-friendly.
After we’ve checked in, a cup of tea was very much appreciated. We sat in the gardens while they served tea.
And what about me?
Before the waiter walked away, he said – “Let me see what I can do for you Miss Darcy.”
He returned with a dog biscuit!
So Mummy had her tea and shortbread and I had my biscuit.
After I’ve gobbled up my biscuit in no time, I sat and surveyed the grounds while waiting for Mummy to have her tea (I gobbled up my biscuit)
… before we went for a walk in the garden.
We went further afield and went for a little saunter down the road. Looks like a lot of farms …, rather smells like a lot of “farms”
Cows – yes, I don’t come across too many of these.
And we walked down this dirt road. me tightly on a leash because Mummy saw tyre marks on the road – that’s her excuse. I think she didn’t want me treading on the muddy parts.
So we looked from afar at those wide open fields… and walked back to the green, manicured gardens of The Peacock. 
That was enough of a walk for Mummy. 🙂
May’s comment: We found The Peacock as a dog-friendly hotel in The Peak District – so just exploring how friendly it really is. Right now not pleased with being given the smallest room at the back of the hotel – I think it might have something to do with the fat that I have a dog. Sometimes dog owners give us a bad name – as I have already realised in another hotel. But will give The Peacock a more informed assessment at the end of stay.

The gardens look just lovely. I get very frustrated when I can’t take Molly into a place: a few weeks ago I was quoted “the law”, which I then googled and found to be quite non-existent. It is actually at the proprietors discretion. Obviously in cafes a dog shouldn’t put food hygiene at risk, but that’s about not going into the kitchen and licking the lovely food!

Hi Nicola, we’re posting something later today – “dog-friendly” is a misnomer. They just allow dogs to stay but usually in most cases, they are not allowed in restaurants – understandable. But sometimes they are allowed in bars or the lounge. But the staff are amazing and try to accommodate. It is frustrating. But overall, it’s a lovely place and the staff make up for all the regulations. But in some cases, it’s the dog owners who really ruin it for everyone else. x
