Meet Andrew Richardson: The Photographer Behind Raven Imagery

When people ask why I have so many photographs of my dogs, my answer is always the same: because our time with them is never long enough.

For years, I felt I hadn’t truly done justice to capturing the lives of my dogs. The everyday memories were there, but I longed for photographs that told a story and reflected who they really were.

Then one day I came across Andrew of Raven Imagery on Instagram.

I reached out with what seemed like a simple idea: I wanted a photograph of Darcy surrounded by cherry blossoms.

When we met in Regent’s Park, Andrew didn’t simply sit Darcy in front of a row of flowering trees. Instead, he took us to some low-hanging blossom branch that perfectly framed a small dog. The result was a dreamy portrait of Darcy nestled amongst the blooms.

Hundreds of photographs later, that image remains one of my all-time favourites.

That first session became the beginning of many more. Christmas portraits. Iconic London backdrops. Walks through the city. Quiet moments together.

But my favourite photographs were never the posed ones.

They were the moments Andrew noticed when I didn’t even realise he was pressing the shutter. One that I treasure above all is from a boat ride on the Thames. I wasn’t looking at the camera, I was simply looking at Darcy, completely lost in the love I felt for her. Andrew captured that moment forever.

Over the years, Andrew became far more than the person behind the camera.

He photographed Darcy during the final weeks of her life, creating memories I now cherish beyond words.

And when Lulu arrived and began her new life in London, Andrew was there once again to capture the start of another chapter.

Many of you have seen his photographs throughout the years without ever really meeting the person behind the lens.

So today, I’d love to introduce you to Andrew, the photographer trusted by so many of London’s dog owners, and the person I have returned to time and time again whenever I wanted to preserve life’s most precious moments.
