Another year, another birthday.
Mummy knew that I would rather have a run on the beach than have a birthday party. It’s very stressful to have treats and so many dogs to share it with. So you can imagine – a run on the beach with friends sounds like the best thing for me. And we also now know that George isn’t running off into the waters.
As you now already know, we took a trip to Dorset with Miuccia and her mummy. We stayed at Hotel du Vin in the old town of Poole
We met up with old friends, Poppy and her family for a walk on the beach.
That evening we had supper at The Yachtsman. Murphy and his mummy, Karen were suppose to join us but they couldn’t make it at the last-minute.
Miuccia (with Jacqui) and George (with Alex)
Poppy (with Jasmin) and Darcy (with Roxy)
It wasn’t quite my birthday yet so I had to wait till midnight before I was allowed to open my pressie from Poppy –
Even George got a present.
The next morning, for my birthday, Jacqui had brought me a birthday cake!
And I got to eat most of it and then shared it with George and Miuccia.
And another pressie from Miuccia.
Then it was the birthday run on the beach – as Mummy promised – rain or shine. We weren’t so lucky this time – but a real test for Mummy if she was going to keep her promise. Well, she did.
We were ALL very wet and sandy –
We had to get back to the hotel to clean up – washed and dried before we all went on the train to go home.
To be honest, we were all a bit knackered … so were Jacqui and Mummy
And before we knew it, we were heading back to the train station.
And soon on the train on our way home.
But the celebrations did not end there. Mummy’s friend Ngan Yue happened to be in London and we ended the day with supper at Henry Root!
May’s comment: Since we broke our short-lived tradition of walking on the beach on the first day of the new year, I thought it would be nice to start this tradition for her birthday. For one, it’s not as expensive to stay in a hotel at the end of February rather than New Year’s Eve. And it is just so much more fun for her to run with her friends on the beach.
Hotel du Vin has become dog friendly again – for a short while they refused dogs but they did an about turn and we are all welcomed back. Nice boutique hotel usually in buildings with a heritage and good part of town. The staff is very friendly and only if we require any accessories for the dogs do you have to pay extra – this true at least for the Poole property. Not sure if it applies to all others. We will know when we go to Crufts – we will be staying at the Hotel du Vin in Birmingham.
We were allowed in the bar area to dine with the dogs – which was sufficient.
