In a world where colour seems to mar our judgment, it is true that black dogs are less likely to be adopted for no other reason than their colouring.
Regardless of behaviour, size, breeding, personality or age, black dogs usually get overlooked.

Today on National Black Dog Day, we ask you to re consider and give us a chance. When you go to a shelter, look into our eye, look at our faces, don’t pass us by. We deserve a second chance as much as any other dog who needs a home.

May’s comment: And people say they are difficult to photograph but when you find that shot, they are as beautiful as any soul of any colour.

One of the many good reasons – they never look dirty! LOL!

Oh George, you are a very handsome boy! I wish/hope/pray all pups not just back find loving forever homes!
Both my black dogs needed homes. I couldn’t be happier with both of them: Nikki and Gina. Reach out to a black dog. They can be loyal, smart, and good-looking!
