Introducing … Charms for Charity, a passion project between three friends who share the same love: dogs, creativity, and giving back.
We’re so excited to finally share our vision and bring you along on our journey.
What is Charms for Charity?
They are handmade, personalised charms — for your bags, your keys, and your dogs.
Each piece is crafted with love, intention, and meaning, with proceeds supporting animal welfare charities.
Every six months, we’ll select a new charity to support, ensuring each creation helps make a real difference to dogs in need.
This is a weekend project, so just 20 orders a month! But every charm tells a story — of love, memory, and kindness.
Meet the trio behind the charms:
🐶 May — A devoted rescue-dog advocate with two rescues of her own. She tirelessly champions shelters and rescue organisations around the world, reminding us that every dog deserves a chance.
MAY with George and Lulu: As soon as I set eyes on George—once a street dog in Hungary—I became a “failed foster” and immediately told Hungary Hearts Dog Rescue that I would be keeping him. Having him in my life opened my eyes to the realities faced by dogs in shelters around the world.
Eighteen months after my soul dog, Miss Darcy, passed away, I felt it was time to give another dog a second chance. That was when Lulu, a toy poodle rescued by Harbin Slaughterhouse Survivors, joined our family. Both George and Lulu are daily reminders of how transformative a second chance can be.
While working to build collaborations between retailers and dog-related events for Chelsea Dog Day, Ju-li offered to create friendship bracelets to raise funds for charity. She was placed at Jigsaw, and it turned out to be wonderfully aligned, hugely successful, and warmly embraced by the community. Seeing how positively people responded made us realise the concept had much more potential.
Together with Michelle, we decided to continue this effort. Charms for Charity became our small but meaningful way of giving back—honouring the dogs who changed our lives and helping more animals get the second chances they deserve.
It is a small but passionate way of giving back for what George and Lulu have given me—and a promise to never forget those still waiting for their second chance.
🎨 Ju-li — The creative heart of Charms for Charity. She brings every charm to life, designing bespoke pieces that honour the memory of dogs past and present — tiny treasures filled with love and intention.
JU-LI with Mr Darcy : In October 2025, I was invited by Jigsaw retail to have a little pop-up stand in-store to sell personalised friendship bracelets and bag charms to celebrate Chelsea Dog Day. All proceeds raised went to Harbin Slaughter House Survivors, a charity in China rescuing dogs from the meat trade. Harbin is particularly dear to my heart as they rescued little Lulu the toy poodle (adopted by May in 2023).
The pop-up event was really well received with a constant stream of dog owners purchasing our friendship bracelets and bag charms. People loved having their items fully personalised and choosing charms that reflected their dogs’ unique personalities. The day raised over £600 for Harbin, and I was absolutely thrilled by the support from the dog community and residents of Chelsea.
From there, our idea of starting Charms for Charity was born. For me, designing and hand-making items brings me immense creative satisfaction. However, the greater joy comes from knowing I can make a difference to dogs in need in my own small way. I can’t wait to see where our venture takes us and to help as many other dogs like Lulu get their second chance for a loving forever home.
📣 Michelle — The storyteller, organiser, and behind-the-scenes driver of the project. From shaping our vision to keeping everything connected and running smoothly, she helps bring our mission to life.
MICHELLE with Bailey : I never imagined how deeply a dog could change my life until I met Orly – my first dog, my companion for 15 unforgettable years, and truly a member of my family. Losing him at the start of the pandemic was a heartbreak equal to losing a person.
At the same time, I saw so many dogs being given up through no fault of their own, and shelters and charities struggling under immense pressure. It made me realise just how vulnerable so many animals are, and how profoundly they depend on us.
That was when I decided to foster. It felt like the only meaningful thing I could do in a moment filled with so much uncertainty.
After some time—and a twist of fate—Bailey came bounding into my life. Was I ready, wasn’t I ready? Bailey soon transformed that thought to ‘why did I ever doubt it’?
Through May, I became even more aware of the realities faced by dogs around the world. Hearing George and Lulu’s stories, witnessing their transformation, and seeing all the dogs still waiting for rescue made me want to do more.
Charms for Charity grew from this shared understanding: that our own dogs are incredibly lucky, and that together we could use our passion and our different skills to help others get that same chance.
For me, this initiative is a small but heartfelt way of honouring and celebrating our dogs, whilst supporting the dogs still waiting for someone to see their worth. It feels meaningful, hopeful—and the most natural thing in the world to do alongside two friends who care just as deeply.
