Chocolate meets Chelsea Charm

Tucked away on Old Church Street in Chelsea, Makers is one of those places you could easily walk past but absolutely shouldn’t.

Set inside a charming, character-filled building, it feels more like a carefully curated gallery than a chocolate shop. On one side, there’s SOKOL Books, a beautiful independent bookshop that invites you to linger a little longer, and on the other, de Gournay, a design space showcasing exquisite wallpaper, the kind that makes you stop and imagine redecorating an entire room. It’s the kind of corner in Chelsea that quietly hums with creativity. And right in the middle of it all: Makers.

But this isn’t just chocolate.

Makers is redefining what chocolate can be. Everything here is made without refined sugar, dairy, gluten, or seed oils, which might sound restrictive, but the result is anything but. These chocolates are rich, layered, and deeply satisfying, made using high-quality cacao and natural ingredients that let the flavours truly shine.

The flavours themselves are where things get really interesting. You’ll find combinations that feel both thoughtful and a little unexpected. And of course, everything is beautifully presented, making it just as much about the experience as the taste.

We love the interiors as much as the chocolates – rich, detailed, and full of character, it feels like stepping into a beautifully curated little world.

After spending far too long choosing (and inevitably picking more than planned), we continued the day in the best possible way, coffee (or matcha) and cake with Michelle and Bailey, who are behind the coffee side of things, and settled in for a proper catch-up, lingering moments you don’t want to rush.

Chelsea does this well, these small, layered experiences where everything connects. A hidden chocolate shop, a bookshop next door, beautiful design details, and then coffee with good people.

Simple, but special.

Makers: 2-4, Queen’s, Elm Pl, Old Church St, London SW3 6EJ
